She is a federally recognized member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne. While in law school, she served for a summer as a consultant to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe to assist with the initial drafting of a tribal constitution. Her father was a WWII veteran and she is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1143. As a teen, she served as Miss VFW and queen of CAVRA (Canadian-American Veterans Reunion Association). She is also a member of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.
A fun fact about her is that she is a second degree blackbelt in Isshinryu Karate. She trains at East West Karate Academy in Sparta New Jersey under Sensei Scott Klinger.
