Brud Rossmann
Mr. Rossmann is a practicing attorney and consultant on investment and business operations.
A graduate of Harvard Law School (cum laude, 1989), he received his degree in economics from the University of Michigan in 1986. He concurrently earned a second degree, as Master of Public Policy, also awarded in 1986.
Mr. Rossmann practiced law with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and the United States Department of Justice from 1989 until 1996. At Justice, he held the position of Trial Attorney, where he led multi-billion-dollar litigation efforts on behalf of the United States government.
After leaving Justice, he held positions with McKinsey & Company as management consultant and with The Windsor Group as an investment banker.
From 1999 until 2001, he served as both Director and Executive Director of AOL Time Warner Ventures, where he co-managed a $1.5 Billion, venture capital, technology investment fund. Mr. Rossmann held Board of Director positions in several fund portfolio companies. He invested approximately $90 million of AOL Time Warner's cash balances. He managed a professional and administrative staff where total risk-capital exceeded $100 million.
Mr. Rossmann currently practices law in the State of New York and is "Of counsel" to Towne, Bartkowski, & DeFio Kean in the New York region. His practice is National in scope, and includes both litigation and corporate transactions in the following areas: (i) real estate generally (ii) lender liability (iii) land use and regulation (iv) environmental law, (v) bankruptcy (vi) distressed assets, (vii) securities/M&A, (viii) technology and telecommunications, (ix) landlord/tenant law, and (x) related tax matters. Recent successes have included the presentation of three (3) claims to the Internal Revenue Service for Net Operating Loss treatment; all three (3) claims were granted in whole or part, and together totaled the maximum claim payment possible given the estimated asset values.
His investment and management consulting work is similarly focused. Recent projects have included multi-family housing valuation of a 1000+ unit portfolio for disposition, along with operations benchmarking of a multi-family REIT-type operation.
