Robert H. Coughlin, Jr. is an of counsel attorney that currently concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation including commercial litigation involving landlord-tenant disputes, contract, construction, land disputes, negligence, serious personal injury, construction accidents, fire and explosions and products liability.  He also serves as a consultant for applicants of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) certifications, and assists with appeals from denials of certification or recertification.

As a Juris Doctor Candidate at Albany Law School, Mr. Coughlin was in the first class of inductees to the ALS chapter of the Order of the Barristers.  He began his career as a confidential law clerk to a New York State Supreme Court Justice immediately after graduation.

Following his time as a law clerk, Mr. Coughlin went on to become a trial lawyer with an initial focus on commercial construction matters, later shifting his concentration to representing insurance carriers and their insureds.

For nearly 30 years, Mr. Coughlin has been devoted to representing insured defendants, injured plaintiffs and insurance companies.  He provides clients with a unique approach when trying cases and using alternative dispute resolution techniques having previously worked for a judge in helping to decide cases.

Mr. Coughlin is a frequent lecturer for the NYSBA and is on the Executive Committee of the TICL Section of the state bar and a former chair of that section.
